Midwest Treatment Centre To Employ Addiction Counsellor

Press Release Summary: Wednesday, 17 September 2008 - Minister of State and Clare
T.D., Mr. Tony Killeen has welcomed the allocation of EUR57,500 to Bushypark
Treatment Centre in Ennis.

Press Release Body: The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has
allocated the funding to enable the Centre to employ an Addiction Counsellor.

According to Minister Killeen, ‘The Counsellor will help establish weekly aftercare
groups to assist cocaine users who have completed treatment in one of the four
centres in the Midwest region.’

He continued, ‘Bushypark has provided many years of invaluable service as a
residential addiction treatment centre for those addicted to alcohol, drugs and
gambling. I hope that the funding allocated to the centre will help individuals and
their families recover from cocaine addictions and regain control of their lives.

Minister Killeen added that tackling cocaine use and implementing the
recommendations of the Report of the Working Group on Drugs Rehabilitation remained
priorities for Government.

‘It is important that we continue to treat the problem of cocaine use as a serious
threat to society. This funding will assist Bushypark Treatment Centre assist in
developing vital services for those experiencing problems’, he concluded.
