Press Release Author: Kent Bjorklund for Osceola County Commissioner, District 3
Campaign

Industry: Government

Press Release Summary: Kent Bjorklund, a minister, business consultant, and Osceola
County resident since 1983, is a strong candidate for Osceola County Commissioner,
District 3. He was awarded an MBA on May 6th with a lifetime membership to Beta
Gamma Sigma for his high academic achievements and integrity.

Press Release Body: Kent Bjorklund is a strong candidate with proven leadership in
business, education and non-profit organizations. He is currently running for
Osceola County Commissioner in District 3, and has been in this race since November,
2007.

On Kent was awarded an Executive MBA on May 6th from the University of Florida where
he had attended since August, 2006. The Executive MBA is a full-time program with
all the rigor of a regular MBA. However, courses are taught by top faculty and
department heads, including the dean of the business school, with strong strategic
overtones geared toward senior level executives. Lecture subjects include business
strategy, marketing management, operational tactics, organizational behavior,
economics, finance, and information technology. Kent was able to excel in all his
courses and as a result finished in the top of his class. Subsequently, he was
invited to join the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society as a lifetime member. Kent has
recently received recommendations from the dean, associate dean and key faculty to
pursue a PhD in Strategic Management.

As a commission candidate, Bjorklund is competing against three other Republicans:
Wendell McKinnon, Tony Ferentinos, and Jeanne Van Meter. His Democrat opponents
include Brandon Arrington, Armando Ramirez, and Marta Moczo-Santiago. The District
3 commission seat is being vacated by Ken Shipley who is retiring from the Board of
County Commissioners after 12 years of service. Due to a significant population
increase in Poinciana, District 3 has undergone a demographic transformation since
Shipley was first elected. Also, single member districts will likely bring further
changes to the Osceola County Board of Commissioners in the coming years.
