Press Release Body: IBM will present “Mobilizing the Web - A Handheld Experience” at the 2008 Wireless & Mobile Expo and Conference May 27, 2008 - Toronto, Canada – IBM will present a feature discussion entitled “Mobilizing the Web - A Handheld Experience” at the upcoming 2008 Wireless & Mobile Expo and Conference, scheduled on July 15 & 16, 2008 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Canada. This presentation will be delivered by Mahmood Ashek, Solutions Architect for Mobile Applications Practice at IBM. In this feature presentation, participants will learn about industry opportunities and challenges facing the mobile Web, cross-platform development using mobile web technologies, and how IBM Customer Facing Solutions Group (CFS) is developing concurrent Web, kiosk, and mobile solutions for a seamless multi-channel user experience. In addition, experiences from CFS’s ongoing development of a mobile check-in solution, which enables customers to check into flights while using phones as boarding passes will be discussed Mahmood S. Ashek is the Solution Architect for Mobile Applications Practice at IBM Toronto Innovation Centre. Currently, he is architecting IBM’s go-to-market business applications for mobile devices, as well as providing user experience consulting for web 2.0 applications. Mahmood’s areas of expertise include design and development of mobile, web, kiosk, portal, DB2, wireless, and RFID solutions. He was recently interviewed by the Senior Writer of Wired magazine about his thoughts on emerging mobile technologies and IBM’s mobile application initiatives. Mahmood is also the co-chair for IBM Mobile 2.0 Community.
