Food Manufacturer Featured in Webinar Ends Data Integrity Issues with Single ERP System

Released on: April 4, 2008, 12:11 pm

Press Release Author: Deacom, Inc.

Industry: Food & Beverage

Press Release Summary: Deacom, Inc. President Jay Deakins presented the webinar
\"Does Your Business Software Have Integrity?\" on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in
conjunction with Food Engineering Magazine.

Press Release Body: WAYNE, PA - April 4, 2008 - Deacom, Inc. President Jay Deakins
presented the webinar \"Does Your Business Software Have Integrity?\" on Wednesday,
April 2, 2008, in conjunction with Food Engineering Magazine. This free event
explored how heart-healthy tortilla maker La Tortilla FactoryŽ selected and
implemented the DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Software System to overcome critical inefficiencies caused by the use of multiple
software systems.

La Tortilla FactoryŽ\'s former business systems managed its recipe and lab
management, regulatory reporting, accounting and financials, purchasing, sales order
entry, inventory control, and production processes at its headquarters and
production facility in Santa Rosa, CA. As the business grew from regional
direct-store delivery to the national food market, however, the company had
difficulty establishing data integrity and creating company-wide process controls.

\"There\'s a basic concept in programming,\" Deakins said during the webinar. \"If data
is in more than one spot, eventually that data will be different.\"

In 2006 La Tortilla FactoryŽ coordinated an internal ERP software search that
narrowed a field of prospective vendors from 56 to one. The final selection was
based on simplicity in design, and the software\'s ability to handle all
food-specific business processes in a single, integrated system.

Deakins explained, \"The new software implementation has resulted in a much simpler
operation, and has allowed them to revamp their process controls and business
processes. When data is in one system, it makes it easier to go to that one location
to manage the entire business. For La Tortilla, it\'s been a very happy transition.\"
