Ahead of the Toxic Curve

Released on: February 11, 2008, 6:29 am

Press Release Author: i play.®

Industry: International Trade

Press Release Summary: While Congress investigates, i play. ® offers a host of BPA
free baby products

Press Release Body: (Asheville, NC)-Parenting and environmental watch groups are
calling for action, Congress is launching an investigation and one U.S. company is
already producing safer baby products. i play.® based in Asheville, NC, has been
manufacturing baby feeding products free from BPA and is rapidly expanding its BPA
free feeding options.

Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a hormone-disrupting chemical considered to be potentially
harmful to human health and the environment. This chemical is used in almost every
baby bottle, sippy cup, and formula can sold in America.

BPA exposure has been linked by scientists to cancers, impaired immune function,
early onset of puberty, obesity, diabetes and hyperactivity. Yet, it is used in the
majority of hard plastic baby toys, cups, and bottles and in formula and food can
liners.

How prevalent is this chemical? According to the US Center for Disease Control,
Bisphenol-A was detected in 92.6% of the urine samples of Americans ages 6-85.

In 2002 i play.® found that just like with lead and PVC, their European customers
had strict regulations regarding BPA content. Based on these concerns and as a part
of a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility i play.® responded by
producing products free of these potentially harmful chemicals for the US market as
well. i play.®
Aqua Bottles, bibs, and toys are all BPA, PVC and Lead free.
