Press Release Summary: The International Chamber of Commerce in Ningbo (COIC) ,
which is a branch of the CCPIT (China Council For The Promotion Of International
Trade) in Ningbo, had invited for a presentation of the new PRC labor contract law.


Press Release Body: The new law will be in effect with 1st January 2008 and will
have an impact on the way how the relationship between employer and employee will be
handled in the future. The chamber had invited a well known accounting and law firm
which has 8 offices in China and soon also will be operating out of Ningbo. About 50
Expatriates and representatives from foreign invested companies had attended the
meeting which started as a presentation and was followed by a question and answers
session. The main aspect was to understand that companies and employees need to find
a workable way to cooperated, keeping the welfare of the workers in mind as well as
the need of the company to make profit, to grow and to create more working
opportunities. The presentation was detailed and professional in the style and
content. During the Question and answer session, the attendants had the chance to
ask more specific questions, which were answered promptly. The meeting was continued
with a buffet dinner in the Ningbo Hotel. Besides the meeting, the attendants had
plenty of possibilities to communicate with each other and exchange their
experiences. Many invited guests also came from Beilun and felt warmly welcome. The
international Chamber of Commerce Ningbo is open for membership to all foreign
national individuals and companies that have foreign investment. During the new year
coming more events are already in preparation. There will be a presentation for the
TAX law in middle of January 2008. Also a topic which does not only effect the
foreign experts in the city but also most of the investments done here China and
Ningbo. Ningbo Expat website has developed into an important information platform
