Important Florida Auction House Announces Its Availability

Released on: October 27, 2007, 10:40 am

Press Release Author: Fred and Gail Taylor

Industry: International Trade

Press Release Summary: Florida’s most prestigious art and antiques auction business,
Arthur James Galleries of Delray Beach, seeks new owner.

Press Release Body: (Delray Beach, FL) - Arthur James Galleries of Delray Beach, has
announced the opportunity for a new owner to take over the art and antiques auction
business. The company President and principal auctioneer disclosed that the auction
gallery, opened in Delray Beach in 1958, has decided to offer its name, prestige,
website, extensive research library and its finely selected mailing list of national
and international clients to a new owner.

George Martin, who has been with Arthur James since 1978, said encroaching
development in Delray provided the incentive to sell the current building, the only
home the business has had since its founding, and now is a good time to open the
area to new possibilities in the art and antiques auction business.

Arthur James Galleries has been instrumental in the development and growth of the
art market in South Florida and across the country since it first sale in 1958.
Among the many important lots to cross the Arthur James block are an oil on canvas
by Pierre-August Renoir (1841-1919) closing at $240,000 in 1992, an oil on board by
Antonio-Clave (Spanish 1913-1972) selling for $220,000 in 1990, a pair of 18th
century Chinese porcelain chargers for $122,000 in 2007 and an oil on board by Jane
Peterson (American 1876-1965) closing at $76,000 also in 2007.

Since 1958 some of Florida\'s largest banks, trust companies, law firms, museums and
institutions have requested the services of Arthur James Galleries to appraise
and/or sell their client\'s collections or estates. Zsa Zsa Gabor sold the contents
of her Florida “Polo Club” house through Arthur James as did the estate of Kenneth
E. Staley, President of General Motors, Chevrolet Division. Other prominent
properties include the estate of Mrs. Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., the Florida home of
Hon. Louis St. Laurent, Prime Minister of Canada, the estate of Mrs. Lee (Peggy)
Iacocca, the estate of Frances P. Vanderbilt as well as property from Donald Trump’s
Florida residence “Mar-a-Lago” and some of the holdings of the Henry M. Flagler
Museum in Palm Beach.

Over the years Arthur James Galleries has established an enviable reputation for
visibility, reliability, and professionalism. When an Arthur James Galleries
forthcoming auction is announced, it generates world wide interest. To reach as many
buyers as possible, all Arthur James auctions have been extensively advertised in
national and international trade publications and in local media outlets in South
Florida as well as regular announcements that are sent to thousands of collectors
and respected members of the trade throughout the U.S.A., Canada, and Europe. The
catalog is routinely available for view on an online website that can be viewed
around the world. Property consigned has been assured of broad exposure to, and
serious consideration by prospective buyers.

Arthur James Galleries has nurtured its reputation by a policy of complete
transparency and openness with both buyers and sellers. The Galleries’ files are
filled with letters of thanks and appreciation from both sides of the gavel as
testament to the success of the approach.
